Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs)

Forex brokers Canada offers a comprehensive range of ETF CFDs, covering indices and commodities, enabling you to trade easily on markets that can be hard to reach.

What are ETFs?

ETF CFDs are essentially like tracker funds – collective investment schemes that aim to replicate the movements of a particular asset or bundle of assets. They are traded on an exchange, just like shares, and are designed to reflect the underlying market they are tracking.

Advantages of ETFs

Trading ETF CFDs offers a number of benefits:

  • Continuous pricing
  • Real-time execution
  • Access to obscure and sometimes hard-to-reach markets
  • Stock exchange listing means ETFs are just as transparent as ordinary shares

ETF CFDs give you the opportunity to take positions on otherwise inaccessible niche markets – for instance the MSCI Brazil Fund that tracks Brazil’s leading shares. Much like trading a stock index, your exposure tracks these collections of shares rather than just the performance of individual companies.

Wide range of ETFs

At Forex brokers Canada you can trade over 200 ETFs as CFDs, with the majority listed on the world’s leading exchanges.

Notes to table

A minimum charge may be applicable for some markets.

All commission rates above refer to the ‘all-in’ rate, ie. the sum of the IG Markets opening and closing commission. No market spread is included in any of the above figures.

The figures for Controlled Risk positions above are the rates which are applied in addition to the standard commission for a non-controlled Risk position. This is done to isolate the extra cost of taking a Controlled Risk position. For example, on a UK Top Tracker – ISF contract, the commission for a Controlled Risk position is 0.5% (0.2% + 0.3%).
